My First Day of the Certified Voice Artist Program Training

Day 1 Experience

Greetings everyone! Yes, it took me literally a long time before I was finally able to start my own vlog. As of now I’m still in the process of polishing it. But it should be ready as it is whenever I can find the time to render the finishing touches that are necessary.

Anyway, I’d want to introduce (or reintroduce) myself, this time as someone who had long been wanting to enter the blogosphere. My name is Billicent Macuse, or Billi/Billie/Billy (any spelling will do, hahaha), a non-conventional 20-something who wanted to explore the world in my own special way.

How I learned about CVAP

I was already in the process of applying for a work-from-home job for reasons such as wanting to save up on any possible allowance or simply spending more time with my family when I first heard about Certified Voice Artists Program or CVAP. Roilan Marlang, founder of Hands In Inclusion Pilipinas, had participated in the most recent batch of CVAP at the time, had asked whether I would be interested to join this program. I expressed interest but felt reluctant at first. Dami ko pang naiisip at kailangang isaalang-alang. What if di nila magustuhan ang voice-over work ko? What if di ako convincing enough despite my natural talent in acting? (naks naman oh!)

The orientation and Day 1 training

I first participated at the orientation on Friday, March 4. It was a quick “get-to-know-you” with other participants as well as alumni from previous CVAP batches. We got to talk about what activities we would be doing for the whole period, covering all Saturdays of March this year. The next day, Saturday, marked the start of the Day 1 training.

What I learned

There are several factors I learned right on the first day of the CVAP Experience. One has to be passionate enough that they’re doing this kind of profession to not just earn money, but to inspire others. I’m so thankful for opportunities like this because having had difficulties in landing a job in the past, there are still those willing to help me gain more work experience to grown not just in my career but as a person overall.
